It's great that you are planning to take part in The Mongol Rally. The Visa Machine is here to help you deal with the most bureaucratic and boring part of the trip planning.

Unfortunately due to COVID-19 a large number of countries remain closed for tourism making it impossible for the Rally to go through them. However, some of them are starting to open up slowly and we are making sure to keep the visa requirements updated on our website so that you could get up to date information on the countries you are planning to travel through. We are also looking for a way to make the COVID-19 safe travel possible by enabling you to book COVID-19 tests en-route where they are required for entry into the next country.

So for now, check the visa packs to see which visas you will need for the route you are taking and once things settle down and you decide to go ahead and use our help in obtaining your visas, don't forget to use the discount code MR2021 to get 15% off our service fees.

If you've got questions or want to start working out your route, check out our Help centre, chat to us online or just drop us an email and we'll be happy to talk it through with you.

Turkmenistan Transit Letter of Invitation (LOI) is applied for the whole of the Rally at the same time as a group. As there are usually over 500 applicants, the processing time for this LOI can be up to 3 months. Our processing time for this LOI is 4 weeks as we need to process all of the applications together to apply for the LOI, then once it's issued, we need to check every single detail to make sure all applicants have got correct details on the LOI.

The applications are processed by the State Migration Service of Turkmenistan and as there is such a large number of applicants they take a while to process them.

Unfortunately, once the documents were submitted to the State Migration Service it is impossible to speed up the application process or enquire about the progress of the applications.

Once the LOI is issued, it is forwarded to the embassy in London who carries out the checks. They then forwarded it to us to check it and only then, once we check all of the details we can send it to each applicant individually.

Please note, the LOI issue date stated on the document is not the date when we receive the document. generally it gets to us at least 2 weeks after it’s been issued.
